IRB of Record

Governance

Also known as: reviewing IRB, designated IRB

The IRB that has agreed to provide ethical review for a study or institution under a reliance arrangement.

In a single-IRB or reliance arrangement, the IRB of record is responsible for initial and continuing review for all sites that cede review to it. Relying sites retain local-context responsibilities.
