The HHS office that oversees compliance with 45 CFR 46 and provides guidance to IRBs and institutions.

The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It administers the Common Rule, registers IRBs (IORG/IRB numbers), maintains Federalwide Assurances (FWAs), investigates allegations of non-compliance, and issues guidance documents.
