Crossover Design

Study Design

Also known as: crossover trial, cross-over design

A study in which each participant receives two or more interventions in sequence, with each participant serving as their own control.

Crossover designs are efficient because they remove between-subject variability, but they require a washout period to avoid carry-over effects and are not appropriate for conditions that change over time.
