AAHRPP Accreditation

Governance

Also known as: AAHRPP, AAHRPP accredited, AAHRPP-accredited IRB, human research protection accreditation

Voluntary accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, signaling that a research organization meets recognized human-protection standards.

AAHRPP is an independent, non-profit accrediting body that evaluates human research protection programs (HRPPs) against standards that exceed regulatory minimums.

Accreditation involves a written application, site visit, and ongoing reaccreditation every three years. Sponsors and sites often prefer AAHRPP-accredited IRBs as evidence of mature processes and documentation.
